KORYN WICKS
Koryn Wicks is a dance artist based in Los Angeles. She has taught elementary and high school students since 2015, working with students of all ages and ability. At the post secondary level, she has taught dance at CalArts, University of California, Irvine, Glendale College and Cypress College. Koryn is passionate about teaching and expanding access to the arts. Currently, she teaches students on the autism spectrum through The Help Group in Los Angeles. Koryn received her MFA in dance at the University of California, Irvine where her research focused on immersive concert design and the integration of digital media alongside live performance. Koryn has danced professionally with diverse companies including Armitage Gone!, Teresa Fellion/Bodystories, Transitheart Productions and Kinetic Architecture Dance Theater. Koryn's work integrates projection, interactive digital environments and audience immersion to transport audiences into layered, interactive worlds. Her work has been shown in the United States, Canada and Europe. Her piece Embodied Ecology received a prestigious OCEANS Fellowship from the University of California, Irvine in 2016. Koryn has upcoming shows at Highways Performance Space and the Bootleg Theatre in 2019.
